Once the termites find a place to build their colony, the sole purpose of the queen termite is to grow the colony. The queen termite lays eggs at a crazy rate of about 30,000 per day!
These eggs are small and white, basically invisible to the naked eye. Also, the eggs only take several weeks to hatch.
The rate at which the termite colony grows is one of the strongest factors that make them indestructible.
No matter how many termites you kill, the colony has hundreds and maybe even millions more. Unless you find the termite colony, which by the way is very hard to find, it will be impossible to stop the termite damage on your property.
If You Kill a Queen, They Make a New Queen
With the queen termite responsible for reproduction, you might think that the answer is clear – get rid of the queen and the colony will get wiped out.
But the problem here is that once the queen termite is dead, the colony can simply make a new queen.
When they are alive, the king and queen termites release chemicals that prevent the other termites from fully developing. Once they are dead, the secretion of these chemicals stops which means that the termites can now grow.
After the queen is dead, one of the other termites simply develops into the queen and starts laying eggs. Nature’s genius becomes our misery, sometimes!
Lastly, We Rely Way Too Much on the Internet
Almost every house owner who finds a termite infestation in his property, first googles for DIY termite control methods.
Now, theseDIY methods might help get rid of termites at the particular spot but you will never reach the termite colony.
Also, if you disrupt the termites with these DIY methods, they simply relocate to another hiding place, which will be harder to find.
