SLIDE TITLE: A SPOTLIGHT ON: CASHIERS
SLIDE TITLE: WHAT DOES A CASHIER DO?
YVETTE O.
I’ll come in every morning; I’ll open all the registers. So I put the cash in all the slots where they should be. And I also like to clean up my register.
DONNA MARIA S.
You need to be able to do searches on the registers themselves, because we do have an online cashier book.
SLIDE TITLE: HOW DOES A CASHIER HELP CUSTOMERS?
DONNA MARIA S.
Our self-checkout is not like some of the other stores; you need help, we’ll help you out. We don’t wait for the machine to call us over. You go over there automatically and say, “That’s gonna need me, let’s go ahead and do this”, so you don’t have to wait around.
JOSEPH G.
You go around from register to register, helping people. So, you can be on one side of the self-checkout line and then you hear another customer need assistance, so you probably have to go over there.
YVETTE O.
So I like to make conversation with customers, so I learn what jobs they’re working on, what they do, what they’re buying, and what their names are.
JOSEPH G.
That’s one of the biggest parts, you gotta have energy, and you gotta always have a smile.
SLIDE TITLE: WHY HOME DEPOT?
YVETTE O.
The biggest difference I’ve seen between working here and anywhere else is that here, the managers know my name. They know what’s going on in my life, and I really appreciate that, because I feel seen.
JOSEPH G.
Home Depot my favorite job because it makes me feel like I’m at home.
YVETTE O.
My favorite part of the job is definitely all the friends I’ve made. I did not expect to make so many friends working here, but I have.
