Purple is the universal global colour of addiction recovery. You can be forgiven for not knowing that; it's not a widely known thing. We all associate the rainbow with LGBTQ Pride and the colour green with environmental and ecological causes.

A Black and Yellow Green No Drugs Campaign can be useful in educating and promoting awareness among people about the dangers of drug abuse. The black and yellow color scheme signifies caution, while green represents life and nature, which work together to convey a message of health and safety.

In 1989 the United States National Recovery Month, September, was founded and a new color – Purple – was selected as the recovery movement's official color. Today, the color purple has expanded its reach to include the addiction recovery movement.

Way back in 2012 we created the purple heart of recovery as our charity's emblem to represent the bravery & courage required & practiced daily, by people in recovery & their families, friends & allies.

While the theme of Recovery Month changes every year, purple is always the official color of Recovery Month. Other colors may be incorporated into the celebration of this month, including turquoise awareness ribbons for Addiction Recovery Awareness.

The strongest and most consistent color associations were those of white with pain relief and red with stimulant efficacies. The color associations found were red with aggression and power, blue with calmness and serenity, white with calm and purity, yellow with energy, and green with environment and health.

We are urging you to adopt the visual symbol of our fight to save lives and prevent overdose. Purple Ribbons for Overdose Prevention is a national effort to bring urgently needed attention to this largely neglected and growing epidemic.
